Product Description
Easy adjust alternator bracket, refinished, mount bolt and adjuster hardware included. Replace your huge under powered original CryCo alternator that was designed for a points ignition with the later 90amp alternator units by NipponDenso or Bosh and use this bracket to mount it easily. Used to replace the early multi-piece alternator bracket found on many early turbo Dodge automobiles. The early bracket, when used on an L-body car, makes it almost impossible to adjust the belt tension. You can hardley even see the adjuster bolt, the pinch nut is hard to reach and it's all around a poor original design with bushings that wear out and are not servicable. This bracket can not be used with the early low amp Chrysler alternator, it must be used with a later style alternator like the 90+amp Nippon or Bosh/Chrysler style alternator. This alternator bracket can not be used on a common block motor, the bracket mounting points are different.
PLEASE NOTE: To use this bracket you must already have or upgrade to the Nippon or Bosh style alternator (pictured here). We suggest that if you do not already have one of these alternators, the smaller NipponDenso style unit is reliable and much much smaller (and more powerful), makes belt adjustment much easier and is a direct bolt on. Also be aware that the end of the alternator harness will also need to be modified slightly to have the correct ends for attachment to the new alternator. You can also splice the alternator portion of the harness from a Nippon/Bosh car into your existing harness.
If you do not want to go through the exercise of building an alternator harness and source the correct alternator, you can just purchase the complete Nippon Denso alternator upgrade kit. This kit includes the easy adjust bracket, a new NipponDenso style alternator and a plug-n-play L-body specific alternator/sensor harness. You can get the details on this kit by clicking here.
