Product Description
MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER/GRAINGER VALVE W/ REUSABLE MICRON FILTER AND INSTALLATION ACCESSORIES
All 2.2/2.5 Turbocharged Dodge & Chrysler Cars
Here is your solution for a reliable, high quality, race and street proven manual boost controller (MBC) that can be installed in a few minutes in your turbo Dodge and that will allow you to adjust your maximum level of turbocharger boost quickly and easily by just turning a knob! Our MBC is fully adjustable in seconds using simple hand tools.
Each turbo Dodge grainger valve MBC includes:
- Completely assembled Grainger valve w/fittings
- CNC Machined MICRON Air Filtration System
- 2ft. 6mmID/12mmOD Black Silicone Vacuum and Boost Hose
- 4 Spring Style Hose Clamps
- Installation Instructions (online)
- Our quality assurance and post assembly inspection and testing insures the best performing controller right out of the box.
REUSABLE MICRON AIR FILTRATION SYSTEM INCLUDED!
Since the Grainger valve is connected directly to the intake manifold, any small debris that enter the Grainger valve line would otherwise get trapped in the valve and over time cause the valve to not function properly.
We include our exclusive CNC aluminum MICRON air filtration system to eliminate the occasional need to clean the Grainger valve.
Our air filtration system is a reusable MICRON air filtration system housed in a CNC aluminum housing that can be cleaned occasionally and without opening and having to reset the boost level on the Grainger valve. This is a very convenient, time saving device to add to the Grainger valve and will save you a lot of time cleaning and re-setting the boost level on the Grainger valve!
HOW DOES A GRAINGER VALVE WORK?
A MBC works on a very simple principal; the adjustable MBC blocks the boost pressure in the vacuum/pressure line going to the waste gate actuator till the boost pressure reaches and passes the boost limit set by you. Once the boost presure reaches the limityou set, the valve will open to allow boost pressure to reach the actuator causing it to open and bleed off some boost through the swing valve.
HOW DO I ADJUST THE MAX BOOST LEVEL?
Making the valve longer LOWERS boost, while making the valve shorter RAISES boost.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING A
GRAINGER VALVE TO CONTROL MY MAX BOOST LEVEL?
- The time to reach your peak boost is improved
- You could save as much as $200 when compared to an electronic MBC
- Enjoy a wider boost area under the curve for higher mid-range torque
- Your max boost limit is increased to the point that you set, not the ECU
HOW HIGH CAN I SAFELY RAISE MY BOOST?
As long as you have the fuel to accommodate the extra boost, the turbododgeparts.com boost controller will allow you to raise the boost limit to over 17psi. You need to keep in mind that the factory computer is set for a maximum boost of 14.7psi (2 bar) and anything above that setting actually requires some additional fuel for best performance and a safe air/fuel ratio. 14.7 PSI could represent almost 2x the amount of boost allowed by the factory computer since many of the factory boost settings are only 7psi! The TII and other Shelby cars got an additional 3psi but you can still safely go as far as 14.7 psi on the factory computer. The actual limits of the valve are dependent on several variables which include but are not limited to the following:
- Turbo size
- Wastegate actuator functionality
- Overall engine condition
- Atmospheric Pressure
- Fuel octane rating
Also, keep in mind that most turbo Dodge turbo engine management systems will cut fuel delivery above a preset factory limit, usually 14.7psi, this is to prevent engine damage.
