This style of Dodge and Plymouth (L-body) heim joint shift rod sets allow you to improve the shift and feel of your 1982-1990 Dodge and Plymouth L-body car like the Shelby Charger, Omni, Shelby GLHS, Horizon, Rampage, Prospector and Scamp quickly and easily. These products replace shift rods on all 4 speed and 5 speed turbo and non-turbo cars and replace the following Chrysler or Mopar part numbers:
4348401 ball joint,
4348441 rod, 4295368 rod, 4295368 rod
4329034 rod, 4269872 rod
Our custom “Quick-Fit” ball and socket style shift rods can be installed in minutes typically. This set includes both shift rods and the long shift tube connector. The two pre-assembled l-body shift rods fit both 4 and 5 speed and turbo or non-turbo applications and include our exclusive double lock ball and cap style end that won’t pop off. These rods are direct replacements for your factory rods so there is no need for any drilling, grinding, cutting, or thread tapping. No modifications required, ever! You just pop off your old rods and pop on the quick fit rods, it’s that easy and can typically be done in 15-30 minutes. This setup will restore the exact shift feel of your Dodge 5 speed L-body car and give you long lasting, extra tough durability. This is not a “kit”, this set is delivered complete, assembled and adjusted. The only tools required once you remove your air cleaner housing is a single open end 15mm wrench. Your shift rods will arrive fully assembled, adjusted and setup for immediate use.

l body shifter linkage with hem joints
Product works well and required little adjustment, I would have been better if they came with installation instructions or a specific video. STEVEN REPLIES: Hi Wayne, there are several installation guides already available in the self help (Tech Tips & FAQs) section of the web site as well as a "Installation Instructions" link at the bottom of the product description. Also covered is a tech tip on adjusting the shifter tube, the shift rods themselves are pre-adjusted and don't need to be adjusted.

Quick fit shit rods non turbo manual
The rods came quickly after ordering them and they fit perfectly. I didn’t have to adjust the shifter because it was still in alignment. It did take me a while to figure out that the retainer had to be removed to get the socket on the ball.

Five speed shift rods
Took about a week and a half for the shift rods to arrive in Washington, came wrapped in a protective bubble wrap. The rod serve very good quality however the coding seems to Chip and scrape off easily. Not a problem considering where it will reside. The rod ends took a few seconds to figure out that you have to remove one of the clips in order to snap the rod on the ball and then replace the clip to mechanically lock it in place. Been using them for 2 days and the shifting is tighter and has a more positive feel. Overall very good. Perfect for replacing broken original plastic parts
These rods fit right in with minimal adjustment. Shifting feels more positive and has far less slop that with the factory plastic/rubber bushings. Surprisingly good paint quality on these ass well.
